Ozark…. Edger Harper passed Saturday January 20th at Dale Medical Center, he was 95. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27th at 1pm at Union Grove Baptist Church in Ozark, AL internment will follow at the cemetery.
Obituary
Edger Daniel Harper was born in Dale County, Alabama on September 8, 1922 to Noah P. Harper & Roachie Canady. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and served at Union Grove Baptist Church until his death. He taught Sunday school and served as a Deacon for many years. He served as a tank driver during WWII in Europe for the U. S. Army. Edger worked for the Atlantic Seaboard Coastline Railroad as a Trackman and Foreman for 40 years. He was affectionately known as “Big Man” & “Candy Man”. He leaves to cherish his precious memories to a loving, caring and devoted wife of over 75 years Mrs. Mae Lue Gissendanner; also, four living children. Bobbie C. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Ann Hendricks and ten siblings. He is survived by a brother, Noah Harper Jr., Ozark, AL and a sister Mollie Brinson, Ozark, AL. and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Brenda Joyce Harper, Ozark, AL. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
