Lloyd Flowers was born August 16, 1932 to the late Sylvester and Ozie Flowers of Dale County, AL. Lloyd attended D.A. Smith School. At an early age, Lloyd joined First Missionary Baptist Church, Ozark, AL, where he remained a life-long member. As a faithful member, Lloyd actively served on the Trustee Board and the Usher Board for numerous years. As a community leader, Lloyd was a founding member of the Voters League Organization where he served as treasurer.

Not only was Lloyd committed to the church and the community, he was devoted to his family. On August 12, 1950, Lloyd and Melva L. Shipmon were united in marriage. In 1992, Lloyd and his brother, Sylvester, formed and operated, Flowers Brothers, a concrete masonry business. Evidence of their skilled craftsmanship is spread all across Ozark and the Wiregrass.
