Ammar Jesar, formally known as Windell Baxter, left his Earthly home Friday February, 26th at Baptist South in Montgomery,AL he was 76 years of age.

Obituary

Ammar Ibn Jesar was born in Ozark, Alabama on October 12, 1944 to the late Windell and Ruth Baxter (Currington). He graduated from D.A. Smith High School in 1964. After graduating high school, Ammar joined the U.S. Army and served 8 years. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. During this time, he reverted to Islam. On May 31, 1980, he married Fatin Jesar. To this union, five beautiful children were born; whom were the most important part of his life.

Ammar was a devoted father. He enjoyed spending time with his children and especially adored the company of his grandchildren. He was an avid reader who enjoyed learning about history.

Ammar Ibn Jesar, a Vietnam Veteran and life-long resident of Ozark, Alabama, died February 26, 2021.

Ammar Ibn Jesar is survived by his wife, Fatin Jesar ; his five children, Zubaedia, Sabirah, Qadree, Radeyah (Lester Eutsey), and Ammar Ibn Jesar II, his grandchildren Nialah, Elijah, Jammar, Arman, and Ocean, his sisters, Gaynell Christian Almaruf (Thomas)- Miami, Florida, and Theresa Currington Montford (Dwayne) -Midland City, Alabama, his five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by his brothers, Woodrow Baxter, and Ruben Baxter; his sister, Lillie Baxter Smith, and brothers, Willie Currington and Jerome Currington. And his loving Mother and Father in law George and Laura Harris.

Ammar Ibn Jesar will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
