Mavis Iona Welch-Knight, born on February 11, 1946, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025. Born in Panama, Mavis spent the first 40 years of her life working as a telephone operator, immersed in the vibrant culture of her homeland. In 1965, she married William Knight, beginning a loving partnership that would last many years. Mavis dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a certified nursing assistant. Her compassion and gentle spirit touched the lives of countless individuals. In 1992, Mavis embarked on a new chapter, moving to the United States. She carried with her the warmth and resilience she cultivated in Panama, enriching the lives of those around her. Mavis was a devoted mother to three sons, Wilfred (Hilka) Harewood, Gregorio (Gracelia) Knight, and Gabriel Knight, six grandchildren, Angelica Robles Harewood, Nicole Harewood, Michelle (Joseph) Newman, Yasmin Knight, Anthony Harewood, Isaac Harewood, and 4 great-grandchildren, Andreas Adonis Robles, Nathaniel Newman, Khi'lany Knight, Amelia Newman She cherished her family, and her love for them was unwavering. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Knight. Mavis is survived by her loving sister, Lilia Olivia Welch, her brother, Edgardo (Esmelyn) Welch, and her three sons, Wilfred, Gregorio, and Gabriel, along with their families. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
