Obituary

Rosie Petty was born August 22, 1946 to George Ivey and Ethelrine Laster. She departed her life on earth and entered into eternal rest on May 28, 2025. She entered into marriage to Booker T. Petty. Rose accepted Christ at an early age, and later joined House of Prayer Outreach Ministry in Newton, Alabama. Even though she couldn't attend the church service, she still remained an active member. Over the years she worked at the Mess Hall in Fort Rucker, the Fort Rucker Bowling Alley, VJ's (later Vick's), and Quick Q BBQ. She was known for cooking her famous hot water cornbread and collard greens.

Rosie is preceded in death by her husband, B.T. Petty; her parents, George Ivey and Ethelrine Laster; her son, Christopher Petty; granddaughter, Centoyra McLeod; and six brothers, George Laster, Jr., Charlie Laster, Jessie Laster, Robert Laster, and Jerry Laster.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories five sons, Orlando Laster of Clayton, Vincent (Derneller) Petty of Ozark, Kenneth (Kenyatta) Petty of Huntsville, Robert Petty of Ozark, and Dwayne (Cheleise) Petty of Hunstville; one and only daughter, Cassandra (Daren) Wilson of Ozark; Larry Frazier of Ozark, who was raised as her own; one sister, Catherine (David) Thomas of Chancellor; three brothers, Lorenzo Laster of Ozark, William Laster of Dothan, and Joseph (Trina) Laster of Newton; one sister-in-law, Linda (Ralph) Booker of Sylacauga); one aunt-in-law, Cora Gibson of Pennsylvania; twenty-eight grandchildren, Latoya Underwood, Christopher Dickerson, Tamario Dickerson, Rashad Laster, Gelecia Eaford, LaKerria Laster, Marquez Laster, Treasure Williams, Jabari Petty, Ashley Liptrot, Shanika Bryant, Keira Petty, Kenneth Petty, Jr., Khari Petty, Martika Burks, Jeremiah Wilson, Daren Wilson, Jr., Santrell Petty, KeAjah Petty, Nysia Petty, Dylon Petty, and Ladysha Petty; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, cousins and friends.

She would always say, "Everyone knows their birthday, but not everyone knows their death date."
