Roy Lee Roberts was born October 30, 1949 to the late Douglas and Gussie Mae Roberts in Wicksburg ,Alabama. He was the fourth of six siblings. He attended school and graduated from M. M. Matthews High School in Pinckard in 1967.

He married Carolyn Roberts and moved to Newton where he lived his adult life. They had three children. He was a skilled concrete finisher, which he enjoyed until he retired.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents Douglas and Gussie Roberts, two brothers Rozell Roberts, Douglas (Boodie) Roberts and one sister, Margaret Ramsey.

He lives to cherish his memory, Carolyn Roberts and three children, James (Missy) Howard of Saginaw, Michigan, Maria (Phillip) McReal and Roy C. Roberts, of Newton, Al. Seven grandchildren, Quintin Roberts, LaPortia McReal, Phillip R McReal Jr, Tyriese Roberts, Sherkayla Howard, James Howard Jr., and Christopher Roberts. Two great-grandchildren, Malachi Holsey and Imani McReal. Three siblings, Roosevelt (Annie Cile) Roberts, Enterprise, Al, Betty Ann (Jerald) Johnson, Greensboro, NC and Darryl Roberts (Kywana) of Wicksburg, Al.
