Mr. Roy Arthur Shipman, Sr., age 79 of Ariton, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. He was born to the late Cleveland and Ahmary Shipman on August 5, 1945. A native of Ariton, AL, he moved away to raise his family in Marietta, GA and returned to his hometown of Ariton where he has been for the last 25 years. Mr. Shipman was a proud Masonic member, lived a life of service and was a pillar of his community. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Shipman; children: Greta Shipman-Andrews (Gary) of Douglasville, GA and Roy Shipman Jr. (Lakisha) of Marietta, GA; 3 grandchildren—Gabrielle Andrews, Ryan and Kamdyn Shipman; 7 siblings 4 of whom preceded him in death---Sherry Thomas (Leo) of Montgomery, AL; Vivian Shipman of Ariton, AL; Diane Grey (Arthur) of Montgomery, AL; late Martha Jackson; late Cleveland Shipman Jr.; late Jerry Shipman; late Ricky Shipman a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
