Shirley Crittenden, born Shirley Casey, entered this world on January 24, 1966, in Alabama, and took her final breath on July 23, 2026, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL. Her gentle presence and indomitable spirit were the heart of her family, and her memory will be cherished by all whose paths she crossed.
A proud resident of Ariton, Alabama, Shirley built a life founded on love, compassion, and nurture. Those who knew her will remember her unwavering kindness—a gift she offered without reservation, bringing comfort and warmth to friends and strangers alike. Whether through a reassuring hand or an encouraging word, Shirley made it her mission to uplift and care for those around her, showing a steadfast devotion to family above all else.
Her greatest joys were rooted in the family she so faithfully loved. Shirley’s memory is lovingly carried forward by her sons, James Crittenden Jr. and, Phillip Crittenden whose lives were shaped by her wisdom and unwavering support. She found a daughter in Raven Crittenden, cherishing their bond. In her grandchildren, Madelyn Elizabeth Crittenden and Mason McCoy Crittenden, Shirley delighted in seeing the next generation blossom, filling her heart with pride and hope.
Her sister, Priscilla Weems, shared a special lifelong connection with Shirley, and her nieces, Jauana Bennett, Constance Casey, and Cynthia Casey, were all recipients of her warmth and guidance. Each surviving family member holds a unique piece of Shirley's legacy—the lessons of resilience, generosity, and love she instilled in them shining on in their daily lives.
Shirley’s journey is now joined with those who preceded her in death: her loving parents, McCoy and Luverne Casey, and her beloved husband, James Crittenden. The love and devotion Shirley showed her family did not end with this earthly goodbye—it endures, ever strong, in the hearts and memories of those she leaves behind.
As we say goodbye, we hold close the example Shirley set—a quiet strength, a boundless heart, and a life devoted to her family. Hers was a legacy written not merely in the years she lived, but in the lives she touched, the love she gave, and the compassion she showed. Though she is no longer at our side, Shirley Crittenden’s spirit will forever remain in the family and friends who loved her, and in the countless memories she leaves behind.
