FLETCHER ROBERT BENSON 76, WAS BORN ON JANUARY 23, 1946, TO THE LATE ALBANY AND GERTRUDE BENSON IN ENTERPRISE ALABAMA. HE CONFESSED TO CHRIST AND WAS BAPTIZED EARLY 1990S AT WESTSIDE CHURCH OF CHRIST IN OZARK ALABAMA. ON FEBRUARY 17, 2022, AT 2:40 PM, HE HEARD VOICE WE COULD NOT HEAR, HIS CALL TO COME HOME, GOD CALLED HIM TO REST.

HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, A BROTHER JOHN “MULE” BENSON, AND GREAT NIECE LAKEISHA MICHELLE SIMMONS.

FLETCHER SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY. FLETCHER WAS A VIETNAM VETERAN. HE SERVED ON INFRATRY IN VIETNAM WAR. HIS SERVICE, ALONG WITH SO MANY OTHERS IN THE MILITARY PROVIDES US THE FREEDOM WE ARE BLESSED TO SHARE TODAY. HE WORE THAT VIETNAM VETERAN HAT ALMOST EVERYDAY VERY PROUD OF HIS SERVICE. BESIDES THAT, HAT “THE RAIDERS” AND “THE LAKERS” AND FAVORITE COLLEGE TEAM OF ALL TIME “UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA” “ROLL TIDE” BABY!!!

FLETCHER LOVED LISTENING TO HIS MUSIC, WATCHING “ID CHANNEL” REAL LIFE STORIES, ACTION/BLOODY SCARY MOVIES LIKE “FRIDAY THE 13TTH”, “HALOWEEN”, LOVED “FIRST 48 HOURS”, AND SPORTS. HE LOVED HAVING A GOOD TIME PLAYING CARDS AND DOMINOS. HE ENJOYED VISITING FRIENDS AND FAMILY. ALSO WANTED EVERYBODY TO GET A CHECK!!! ESPECIALLY IF YOU IN MILITARY!! MOST IMPORTANTLY LOVE TO READ AND STUDY GOD’S WORD. HE SHARED WHAT HE KNEW WITH OTHERS ABOUT GOD. I WILL MISS THE BIBLE DISCUSSIONS WITH COFFEE, OLD SUNDAY SCHOOL BOOKS, RIDE TO DOCTORS, RIDE TO CHURCH, CONVERSATIONS ABOUT LIFE HIS PERSPECTIVE…HE ALWAYS HAD MY BACK IN HIS WORDS “I AM WITH YOU GOOD, BAD, BLACK, AND UGLY!!” NEVER EXPECT SOMETHING FOR NOTHING!!I CAN’T LOVE YOU IF I DON’T LOVE ME!! I WILL MISS HIM DEARLY, WE ALL WILL MISS HIM.

FLETCHER WANTED FOR US TO KEEP OUR LOVE STRONGER THAN EVER KNOWING HE IS IN A BETTER PLACE. FLETCHER WILL REMIND US TO BE THANKFUL FOR THE BEAUTIFUL YEARS WE SPENT TOGETHER. TO REMAIN FAITHFUL TO GOD NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS IN LIFE. ETERNITY IS A LONG TIME, GET OUR HOUSE IN ORDER, WE HAVE ONE LIFETIME TO MAKE PREPARATIONS FOR THE NEXT. 

FLETCHER LEAVES TO CHERISH A LIFETIME OF MEMORIES, A DEVOTED

AND LOVING WIFE SIS. MARY LUE BENSON. TWO BROTHERS BENNIE

OZARK ALABAMA, RICHARD PERKINS OF DOTHAN ALABAMA, DENNIS

(TONYA) BARKER OF JUNCTION CITY KANSAS, AND TWO DAUGHTERS

TANGANITA BARKER OF DOTHAN ALABAMA AND TINA (RICKEY) BARTON

OF ENTERPRISE ALABAMA. NINETEEN GRANDCHILDREN AND 21 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN. TWO BROTHER IN LAWS DARREL (SHARON) HATTEN

OF OZARK ALABAMA AND MACK ARTHUR PHILLIPS. HE LEAVES BEHIND

WESTSIDE CHURCH OF CHRIST FAMILY AS WELL AS A HOST OF NIECES,

NEPHEWS, COUSINS, AND OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS.
