Gladys Clara Barton was born on February 24, 1948, in Graceville, Florida, to the late W.T. Rogers and Sally Coleman. Gladys was the oldest of two daughters. On the morning of November 25, 2021, the Lord called her to rest, while surrounded by family.
At an early age, she made the best decision of her life when she accepted Christ and was baptized at the Black Shear Street Church of Christ, in Dothan, Alabama. Gladys later relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, where she lived for several years, before returning to her childhood home in Alabama. Gladys served as a member of the Willow Oaks Church of Christ, formally known as Daleville Heights Church of Christ, where she was loved dearly by her church family.
Gladys was a woman who loved her family and was full of life. Although she had a quiet demeanor, she had a vivacious spirit. Gladys had her own unique style. She was a woman of few words, when she did speak, they were words to be remembered. She will truly be missed by all.
Gladys leaves to cherish her memories: a loving sister, Gloria Beacham of Jacksonville, Florida; six children: Deborah (Barney) Griffin of Ozark, Alabama; Bridgett Perkins of Ozark, Alabama; Zachary Barton of Cincinnati, Ohio; Fitzgerald (Margo) Barton of Jacksonville, Florida; Rodney (Tangie) Barton of Jacksonville, Florida; and Subrina (Edward) Moore of Jacksonville, Florida; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one niece and a host of other relatives and friends.
