Jody Terry Obituary

Jody Terry was born January 5, 1972 in Ozark, Al. He was the son of Annie Jean
Pearson and the late Will Dawkins. Three boys completed this happy family circle. He
attended Carroll High School in Ozark, Al., and was a very talented football player.
He graduated from Carroll High School in 1991. He enjoyed watching many sports,
but football was his favorite. Jody was a huge fan of The University of Alabama
Football Team-ROLL TIDE!!

Jody joined St. Rose Missionary Baptist Church early in life and later joined St. Mark
A.M.E. Zion Church, where he was a member of the Sons of Varick, Male Choir and a
member of the Culinary Committee. When St. Mark had a fish fry or barbecue at
church, Jody was the main cook or assisted in any way that was needed. You could
often find him LIVE on Facebook, showing off his “chef skills” to those who were
watching. He loved to fish, hunt, and play cards with his family and friends. He was
always willing to help others in any way that he could. Jody enjoyed “sitting under the
tree” with his favorite uncles, Pokie and T-Bo. He always talked about his “boy”
Isaiah, of whom he was very proud. Many times, they would spend the entire day
together, enjoying each other’s company and strengthening the bond that they
shared. He was loved by all who knew him and will truly be missed.

All of Jody’s relatives and friends lovingly called him Jody, Uncle Jody, and “Shiznick,” a
nickname given to him by his brother, Ferrette. He is preceded in death by his
grandmother, Emma Jean Terry, his grandfather, Otis Terry, a brother, Manelito
Calhoun Truett, an uncle, Rev. Otis Terry, and a cousin, Ladina Knight.
