Trawick Redding, “TR”, was born on July 1, 1943. A resident of Ozark, AL, he died at his home on
March 29,2024, with family members present. Trawick was born and raised in Ashford, AL where he
attended primary and graduated from Ashford high school. He was called into service in the U.S. Army
before the Vietnam War. On his return to Ozark, he worked at Ft. Novosel, formerly Ft. Rucker, where he
worked on Cairns Army Airfield as a bus driver for helicopter pilots and flight safety. In addition to his
work as a civil servant, he drove the school bus for Ozark City Schools. Upon his retirement from Ozark
City Schools and Ft. Rucker, he drove for the Ozark Senior Center. Trawick was well loved by anyone
who met him. Many of his students loved him and would tell anyone that he was one of Ozark City
Schools best bus drivers.
During his early years, he worked with his uncle Johnny Trawick by learning the funeral and the dry
cleaning business. It was shortly after that where he met the love of his life, Lille Dean Thompson, a
resident of Ozark, Alabama. They married in 1963.
Trawick owned a record and CB shop on the “Block” on Acker Avenue. He also was a mortician and
worked with many funeral homes across the Wiregrass area.
Trawick’s favorite pastime was to meet and talk to any and everybody. He never met a stranger. He loved
helping people and giving a helping hand. He would often mentor young men and used a lot of his free
time doing for others.
Trawick was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Buera Mae Redding. He also was preceded in
death by his brothers John Aaron Dawsey (Lester) Atlanta, GA. Robert Redding (Barbara) Dothan, AL
Dwight Redding (Mattie) Titusville FL. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Dean Redding, sister Constance
Sylvester, Tampa FL. son Trawick Redding Jr., daughters Deborah Richardson, Danelle Peterman
(Frankey), Erica Redding, and Marsielena Williams (Ryan). grandchildren Frankey Peterman Jr., Akira
Peterman, Erica Willis, Olajuwon and Israel Richardson, Jorden Redding-Shelton, Christian Peterman,
and Avan Williams. God -Children Tara Pennington, Cameron Mcleod, Kyran Brown, special friend
Clifton Truitt and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Trawick will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.
